We are recruiting a Technical Author for a marine technology company to assist in the design, manufacture, installation, and support of their products.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation and editing of technical drawings during tender phases, system design, manufacture, installation and support throughout the life of the systems.
You will also work closely with systems and project engineers to provide the necessary technical publications required to meet the specific requirements of each project. This will include documents such as user guides, technical manuals and project management plans such as system configuration and through life support.
The role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to identify and influence enhancements to the processes used to manage documentation created within the company.
It is important that you are capable of understanding our systems architecture and our products and applications in a user environment and full training will be provided to support this.
Key skills:
•Good knowledge and experience of AutoCAD LT.
•Good knowledge and experience of Microsoft Windows tools such as Word, Excell and PowerPoint.
•Good knowledge and experience of Adobe Acrobat and publishing applications.
•Ability to create clear, concise and well-structured documentation.
•Self-motivated with a good work ethic.
•Ability to work both, as an individual and as part of a team is essential.
•Good verbal, written and communications skills.
•Good organisation and presentation skills.
Qualifications:
•A good level of education in a relevant engineering discipline, excluding mechanical and electrical engineering.
•GCSE’s / A Levels / BTEC / HNC / HND / Degree or related professional qualifications will all be considered.
Experience:
We would like applicants to have 3 years’ experience of working as a Technical Author, preferably in a technical communications environment.
Nice to have skills:
•Knowledge of IT/Communications/Software Documentation
•Experience and knowledge of other technical drawing software packages
Location: Commutable from: Liverpool, the Wirral, North Wales, Chester, Cheshire, Merseyside.
