GCP Platform Architect, UK based: Flexible working/ remote working

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a GCP Platform Architect to join our client’s dynamic and rapidly expanding Consultancy Practice.

As a GCP Platform Architect you will act as a subject matter expert on GCP platform architecture and technologies delivering both pre and post sales technical consultancy to our customers.
As a predominately client facing role you will have proven skills in working with customers to design and implement modern, scalable platform solutions using a range of new and emerging technologies from the Google Cloud Platform developed and deployed with DevOps tooling
The Role
• Have responsibility for influencing and shaping GCP solutions primarily focused on platform and infrastructure
• Define solutions, technologies and standards to best practice
• Provide opportunity-specific Technical Assurance, Quality Assurance, Governance & Customer Satisfaction of pre and post sales consultancy engagements
• Work as part of a team defining, designing and implementing solutions for our customers
• Highlight any technical risks that may impact the success of the solution for our client
• Liaise and be a key member of the GCP community, contributing to knowledge exchange and internal service and proposition development
Ideal candidate:
• Google certified in one or more areas preferably Professional Cloud Architect
• Thorough understanding of the platform and infrastructure aspects of GCP and have successfully designed, delivered and deployed infrastructure into GCP production environments
• Fully understand GCP Foundations, including networking, security, compute, IAM and storage and be able to confidently discuss these with customers and develop solution designs
• Delivered GCP platform elements using DevOps tools (preferably Terraform, Jenkins and Git)
• Worked with one or more customers in the delivery of GCP and have either led or managed other engineers in delivery
• Experience delivering GCP in an agile approach using sprints, backlog items, stand ups etc. and have experience with tools such as Jira
• Understand the concept of Landing Zones and onboarding applications and services onto the core platform elements supported in this approach
• Understand the importance of security and compliance and how to build GCP elements to adhere to standards such as the CIS benchmarks
• Understand how to use services such as Cloud Operations to support GCP in Production
• Deployed or integrated best of breed third party tools into GCP
• Understand networking in GCP including VPC’s, Shared VPC’s, VPN’s, Interconnects, peering and routing

Skills:
Mandatory
• Experience or at a minimum a detailed working knowledge of the following GCP Product areas: -
o Compute Engine
o Storage
o Cloud Networking
o Billing
o Load Balancing and Auto Scaling
o IAM and Cloud Identity
o Service Accounts and Organisational Policies
o GCP Security
o GCP Operations Suite
• Must be familiar with DevOps and Agile methodologies
• Must be proficient in Cloud Provisioning tools such as Terraform, Deployment Manager etc
• Must be familiar with CI/CD pipelines and tooling (Jenkins, Concourse etc)
• Must be familiar with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc)
• Must be proficient with Source Code Version Control tools such as TFVC and Git
• Must be proficient with data standards like JSON and XML
• Must be proficient with development/Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, Python or Node.js
