As a GCP Data Architect you will have an in-depth knowledge of GCP data architecture and technologies delivering both pre and post sales technical consultancy. As a predominately client facing role you will have proven skills in working with customers to design and implement modern, scalable GCP data solutions using a range of new and emerging database and big data technologies from the Google Cloud Platform
You will be responsible for influencing and shaping GCP solutions primarily focused on data services, data storage, data migration and orchestration and you will provide opportunity-specific Technical Assurance, Quality Assurance, Governance & Customer Satisfaction of pre and post sales consultancy engagements
Ideal candidate:
Google certified in one or more areas preferably Professional Cloud Architect and/or Professional Data Architect
Thorough understanding of the data services of GCP and have had successfully designed, delivered and deployed these data services into GCP production environments
Understand GCP data services, including Databases (SQL and NoSQL), storage, BigQuery, BI, Reporting, Data Warehousing and Analytics and be able to confidently discuss these with customers and develop solution designs
Understand the GCP data tool set and its use cases including DataFlow, DataPrep, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer and Data Catalog
Experience migrating data and/or databases into GCP, either as a ‘lift and shift’ or cloud native transformation
Worked with one or more customers in the delivery of data services in GCP and have either led, mentored or managed other data engineers in delivery
Experience delivering GCP services in an agile approach using sprints, backlog items, stand ups etc. and have experience with tools such as Jira
Experience of reporting tools such as Looker,PowerBI or Data Studio
Experience in Databases such as Oracle or SQL*Server
Understand the importance of data security and compliance and how to build GCP elements to adhere to standards such as the CIS benchmarks
Understand the concepts of AI and ML and the GCP services that enable these on top of data sets
Have deployed or integrated best of breed third party data products into GCP
Skills:
Mandatory
• Experience or at a minimum a detailed working knowledge of the following GCP Product areas: -
o Compute Engine
o GCP Cloud Storage (GCS, Persistent Disks etc)
o Big Query
o GCP Managed Databases (i.e., Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, BigTable, DataStore/Firestore)
o GCP Big Data (i.e., DataProc, DataPrep, Pub/Sub)
o Data orchestration and pipelines/workflows via Cloud Composer and DAG’s
o Reporting and BI Tools (i.e., Looker, Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI)
o Best of Breed DBMS (i.e., Oracle, SQL*Server, Postgres, MySQL)
o IAM and Cloud Identity
• Must be familiar with DevOps and Agile methodologies
• Must be proficient in Databases including SQL and NoSQL
• Must be proficient with Database Migrations and Tooling / Methodologies
• Must be proficient with backup, archival, snapshotting and restore
• Must be proficient with data standards like JSON and XML
• Must be proficient with data encryption and privacy
• Must be familiar with data indexing, portioning, cataloguing and versioning
• Must be proficient with data languages such as SQL
For the right candidate full training and enablement will be provided to address any gaps

• Data Analysis languages (i.e., Spark, Scala, R)
• Microservices architectural style and design principles
• Cloud Provisioning tools such as Terraform, Deployment Manager etc.
• CI/CD pipelines and tooling (Jenkins, Concourse etc)
• Configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc)
• Source Code Version Control tools such as Git
• Development/Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Ruby, Python or Node.js
