A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Consultant to join our client’s dynamic and rapidly expanding Consultancy Practice within an IT Services company. The role will focus on Data Protection technologies along with a good understanding of datacentre migration. The role can be based from any of our client’s UK offices and will involve regular UK wide travel. The Principal Consultant will assist with Presales and Design consultancy, designing appropriate solutions and leading, contributing and winning bids, and working on delivery projects.
The ideal candidate will have in-depth presales, design and delivery understanding of Data Protection solutions including, but not limited to, Cyber Recovery and products primarily in Dell/EMC but also including other Data Protection and Storage vendors such as Rubrik, Veritas, Commvault, Veeam and IBM and experience in datacentre migrations.
Role Responsibility
Serve as a technical point of contact in the design and delivery of Data Protection solutions and provide subject matter expert input into Data Protection designs
Work closely with customers to ensure you understand their Data Protection requirements and implement solutions best suited to deliver these requirements
Undertake individual consultancy assignments to gather data to help architects design new platforms for our clients
Responsible for the quality of all technical deliverables produced
Attend and present at customer workshops and meetings
Ensure that engagement with support departments is undertaken during implementation work.
Provide technical support as requested, for internal and external customers
Produce/update all assignment documentation. Undertake knowledge transfer to customer or third party personnel
Work as part of a team on larger solutions
Keep up-to-date with current and future technologies, products and strategies
Maintain vendor accreditations and certifications
Be able to articulate and design the integration requirements for workloads (SaaS, IaaS, HCI, Database etc)
Be able to articulate and design against the security features and requirements within Data Protection (i.e. Encryption, Access and Authorisation methods etc)
Deliver and lead on presales activities relating to Data Protection solutions such as:
Building commercial models and creating and inputting into proposals and statement of work
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
5+ years of Hands on Presales, Design and Delivery related work on Data Protection based solutions particularly: Dell/EMC, Cyber Recovery Solutions, Disaster Recovery solutions
Also a good working knowledge of other Data Protection and Storage vendors such as: Rubrik, Veritas, Veeam, Commvault and IBM
Experience in SAN switching technologies, particularly Cisco and Brocade
Experience with virtualisation platforms
Experience with cloud vendors and cloud data protection methods
Professional certification for above technologies
Knowledge of scripting/automation skills
Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and network problems
Experience with leading teams on complex Data Protection deliverables
Commercial and presales experiences in
Building commercial models and solutions
Inputting into and reviewing commercial responses (SoWs, proposals, cost models etc.)
Desirable
Experience with other vendor’s storage solutions, such as HDS, NetApp etc
Experience with Data Protection hardware and software platforms
Experience with migration tools, particularly: Datadobi, Cirrus DMS, ADDM and Lanamark
An understanding of server infrastructure including vSphere, Linux, Windows
An understanding of private & public cloud deployment concepts and basic networking understanding, such as IP subnets, security groups, routing, firewalls.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field - or very significant experience required
Clearance at SC level would be a benefit
